Claymore - Galatea and Rafaela (new project)

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog while we are discovering new things in 2020. And nothing like a good Blog to entertain you.

Following the previous Blog I wrote of the new projects I started of new Claymore characters on Blender, I came with the idea of making two more projects with the same topic, this time with Galatea and Rafaela - two of the 5 strongest warriors in the Organization. Like the previous blog (Claymore - Miria and Helen (new project)), the focus on these projects are their spaulders as the first thing to do before making the own characters.

Let's start with the former Number 3 and Eye of the Organization: God-Eye Galatea.

For Galatea's spaulders, I reused the first edge from Miria's spaulders to extrude the faces until the object gains the shape of the Number 3's armor piece. Like I said in the previous blog, I have some images of her from the anime to help me making it. The lower part was a copy from the lower section of the spaulders, with some vertices removed from the original model. For one hand, it's looking good so far.

And now let me show you the former Number 5. The one-eyed warrior Rafaela.

This one gave me some troubles making it. Different from a perfect curve, Rafaela's spaulders has that 'bulge' and expands in the lower region of the armor piece. And since it has three segments, I duplicated it while on Edit Mode, then I separated in two parts.

The carriers remain the same since there are few characters with different models, taking the example of Ophelia, Flora, Jean, Undine and few others.

In case I'll make Rafaela's head, a question that never ceases: How I'm going to make the scar over her left eye?

Rafaela from Claymore New Wiki: https://claymorenew.fandom.com/wiki/Rafaela

Good question. While the head has the Mirror modifier applied, I may extrude the selected edges of her left socket and create a new face with F button (the 'pay respect' button as most gamers would say) once I have the ideal spot. The scar itself can be made on the head texture. As for eye, in case I don't have it with the Mirror applied, I have to apply it and delete the left eye to have only the right one. Same goes for her eyelids, lashes and eyebrows.

In the future, I plan to make the others and my OC’s, but such work will requires time and patience because I have been the only person interested in Claymore to make all the hard, painful work. There are some moments my brother can give me some help. Well, I hope you like what I did for Galatea's and Rafaela's spaulders. I plan to share more artworks and other things I did in my time. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see it. See you next time.
