New video and new updates for: Avro Lancaster B Mk III, La-5 / La-5FN and A6M 'Zero' - December 9th, 2022

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another blog in 2022.

December arrived and the year is close to the end, same goes for my job contract at the public health center - scheduled to end on December 31, 2022. Yet, December 31 is a Saturday, so I will work until December 30 since the weekends and holidays weren't included in my timesheet. Still, I guess I'll have to go after another civil service exam while I wait for the call for the selection process for attendant.

For this month, my university semester has been concluded - allowing me to rest while my addition to my service at the public health center is still in course. And again, Warframe introduced the new Nightwave intermission chapter (Oh God, not again). Fortunately, my work schedule was modified in mid-November due to the vacation of one of the attendants and the transfer of another to the warehouse sector after the employee in that area had been approved in a civil service exam. The new working hours will be permanent until the end of my contract.

Alright. With nothing else to add, let's go for the Blog. For today, I'm going to bring new videos I uploaded to my channel and new images of the Avro Lancaster Mk III, Lavochkin La-5 and La-5FN and the Mitsubishi A6M2 'Zero' Model 21.

In this video, I talk about my absence with YouTube, my work at the health center and answering some questions in some of my videos. I planned to upload it before my new video of the Avro Lancaster timelapse. I recorded it with a script after my brother noticed some 'issues' with my English. It's been a while I don't record myself speaking in English, so he advised me to write a script before recording anything with my cellphone.

Then I uploaded the third episode of Avro Lancaster being made in Blender. It appears a considerable number of people watched it after being published on YouTube.

Avro Lancaster B Mk III:

During the third episode of the Lancaster timelapse video series, the British bomber received a new cabin framing along the machine guns, the bomb bay doors after I extracted a piece from its belly. The decals were now added to the plane from the small test. I tried to append it from the Spitfire, but the idea was scrapped. Another change was the lighting - which greatly helps to make some areas visible.

The next components are the Pitot tube, a rework on the turrets and bombardier cabin, rudder balance mass, the landing gear, the ailerons and flaps, the navigation lights, a small correction on the pilot's cabin, the aerial attachments and other components - and its interior. After that, a nice texture and rigging the plane.

Lavochkin La-5:

Lavochkin La-5FN:

The Lavochkin La-5 and the La-5FN received their canopy, some 'lumps' for the ShVAK cannons port access, the antenna, the propeller blades, the engine louvre intakes and the Soviet VVS (Russian: Военно-воздушные силы, tr. Voyenno-vozdushnyye sily - the Soviet Air Force) roundels on its fuselage and under its wings. Despite the minor differences, both models share the same fuselage (except for the engine top air intake), the hatch and the forward canopy section, wings, weaponry, landing gear and flight control systems. Only the antenna and the rear section of the canopy are the only things to be made in different collections at the same file.

The next components are the landing gear, the engine exhaustion outlets, the Pitot tube, the cockpit components, the navigation lights, the flaps, ailerons and slats. I'm not sure I'll include the slats for the German Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Me 262 and the Bf 110 since these planes count with automatic slats to increase its maneuverability in combat. Then, I'll rig this Soviet plane and paint it. The La-5 will retain its green color with some dark-green or black painting segments on its upper wings and fuselage. I'll paint the La-5FN's upper wings and fuselage with gray and dark-gray colors while the underside will be painted in blue and some areas in red.

Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21:

I started the texture for the A6M 'Zero's interior, fuselage and propeller. I noticed the Sakae engine housing retained its Black Sekitan (coal in Japanese) material - which I later changed to the fuselage's texture. Apart from that, it's looking good. The propeller blades look nice with these two red stripes. I had to use Blender and Gimp 2 at the same time in order to get the desired results based in several photos I downloaded from Google.

And now, more renders of the Japanese Zero.

Now it's time for the wings to receive its texture. I had to adjust its UV Mapping after some small issues surrounding the spacing for the landing gear. Meanwhile, I painted the smoke coming from the Type 99-1 Mk.3 cannon and the Sakae engine outlets. The area between the wing tip and the base were painted in a light teal color.

The Sakae engine housing material was changed to receive the fuselage's texture, but I'll have to change some things due to the lack of gloss being reflected on the surface. Since it is a shade of black, I'll have to use a near gray / white color for the Gloss Node. The next thing to do is adding a red, blue or golden color on its fuselage and tail. I'm not sure it is related to the Sentai (the Japanese air fighter squadron) markings.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you enjoy this Blog. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
