M3 Half-Track (new project), Resuming my studies and A small pause with Claymore projects... for now
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog while we are discovering new things in 2020. And nothing like a good Blog to entertain you.
For this Blog, I'm going to show a new project I started recently - focused on WW2 vehicles. The vehicle of choice is the American M3 Half-Track A model. In case you don't know what it is, the M3 Half-Track is an American half-track vehicle built during WW2 until its retirement in 1990. Half-track because of a pair of tracks (similar to those used by tanks) over a set of rear wheels on a vehicle, but keeping the front wheels for guiding the vehicle. The main function of the M3 was the transport of troops, supplies and important materials over rugged terrain where conventional vehicles can't walk through. There were other versions for the M3 Half-Track like the tank destroyer version or by its name M3 Gun Motor Carriage and the M13 and M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage - for AA (anti-aircraft) role with the M45 Quadmount turret. Aside from the United States, other countries like Brazil, The Commonwealth (UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and British colonies), Portugal and the Soviet Union operated the M3 thanks to the Lend-Lease program; while few units fell to the Germans during the North African campaign and the Western Front.
For the rendered images, I'll share them to you.
It's looking good. Don't you agree?
It's still under development. What I did was: I made the main structure of the M3 Half-Track, the front wheels and the track wheels, the turret ring and its armaments. I appended the Browning machine guns from a project I was working while the P-38 Lightning was in development. Initially, the machine gun in the forward section is an M2 Browning / .50 caliber machine gun, while in the aft section could be an M2 or an M1919 Browning / .30 caliber machine gun. But I used the same model while the project was halted. Complicated when I have multiple projects and I pay attention to some of them.
But now let me show the new renders of the M3 Half-Track.
On these renders, I made an adjustment on the wheels, structure and the turret ring. However, I picked up some images for the track wheels and suspension system, which they will help me to remake the two larger wheels and make the suspensions before moving to the tracks.
The next thing to do is the front section of the vehicle, the space between the tracks with the main structure, doors, windows and its shield, the seats for driver, co-driver and passengers, tires, armaments - that will be for the original project from where I appended them, a nice texture and rigging it.
For the moment, I will slow down my attention with Blender. I resumed my studies for a coming civil service exam while I wait to be called to work as an attendant at the clinic from where I live. On May, I will resume my previous Blender projects. Also, I gave a break with Claymore projects after my brother has installed the 2.82 version.
The reason was: it messed up with Bezier curves for the hair from Irene, Teresa, Jean and Sophia; and the Copy Rotation - attached to the Empty object from which the sword is kept on these projects, plus the ones for Noel and Priscilla. I plan to make the corrections on them, but only with the 2.8 version - leaving the 2.82 version to the main version for the other projects like the aircraft, vehicles, scenes and firearms.
Looking at this print screen, Irene could be mistaken for Allucard in the Castlevania franchise. |
I wrote a journal on my DeviantArt about that topic, however I removed it after announcing my departure from the website due to the recent introduction of the AI image generator.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoy it. I'll be back with more Blogs in this year. I plan to share more artworks and other things I did in my time. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see it. See you next time.
