COVID-19 and Resuming my Minecraft Style project
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog.
As we are completely aware of the World's situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I guess a considerable number of civil service exams are being cancelled, suspended or postponed. This was taken as most of examination Boards received Governamental regulations to make sure the contagion won't spread further as we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Though some exams has been cancelled, suspended or postponed, it doesn't mean I'll have to drop my studies. There will be some days I'll dedicate myself into them, while others will be reserved for my 3D works and fun.
Alright. Enough with these and let's go for the important thing. For this Blog, I decided to resume one of the works I made a long time. I'm pretty sure you saw some rendered images from a Minecraft-styled characters. In case not, here's the link to the Blog I told about that midterm project: A Midterm Project - Minecraft Style The idea for that midterm project was from the time I was working on Priscilla from Claymore.
When I was working on that project before giving a break, I tried to make something similar that some animators do with Minecraft characters like Steve, zombies, Creepers, skeletons, villagers, wild critters and other creatures; and Original Characters made by Youtubers when Minecraft was a hit from 2011 to nowadays (especially on Brazil). There was some things I discarded from what I saw on a YouTube video (I don't remember which one in particular since it could be thousands of videos with that same tutorial), like the use of vertex groups and values when I had an idea to use armature and bones.
Let me show what I did:
This is what I made so far. The girl (in these renders: Sabürina) no longer has that simple textured head - made in Gimp 2. Instead, she has separated objects to be her eyes, eyebrows, eyelids, lips and teeth. The hair remains the same from what I did.
If you want to see the previous version of her and compared to the new version, here it is:
While I was working on making that head and parts, I faced some flaws due to attaching the selected body parts into the proper bone, like having a second bone influencing that body part. Fortunately I managed to correct most things in the project. After the girl (Sabürina), I came with the idea of applying it to the boy (in this case: Antony).
Awww. They look so cute when they are together.
But joking aside, I managed to duplicate the head and its parts - along the head bone, and attach them to the boy's body and armature. Now he looks good to go. And for fun, I decided to render more scenes of him with the girl; and render him in solo scenes.
William said the moment he jumped like that he expected to be hit by a spear or sword. (lol)
He looks good in these renders, especially the ones he's taking his sword into combat. Keep in mind he's still using the sword from Claymore. In a near future, I plan to make his own swords from Antony's Triviality - with Archeus as the first.
Just for fun (this time), here comes another rendered images.
On these last three renders, I made him carrying a Thompson M1A1 - just to change a little bit. I made it in these days while I was working on other WW2 firearms. I'm not sure I plan to share more firearms renders into my Blogs like I did with the M1 Garand. And maybe, I'll share some images of another Unity project - one based on Call of Duty Black Ops: Zombies. But that matter will be talked broadly for another Blog.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoy it. I'll be back with more Blogs in this year. I plan to share more artworks and other things I did in my time. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see it. See you next time.
