My tribute to Texas Raiders - November 13, 2022

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another blog in 2022. We are now on November 13 - approaching the end of 2022; hoping for the things to get better. Now that I'm working and studying, my time for Blogs decreased to some occasions and some weekends.

For this month and for December, I will focus my attention on my university semester and the new weekly tasks and my job (which are quite stressful but I'm used to. Haha. After that, I think I'll take a break from university and public exams as soon as I settle down for good). I'm not sure what will happen after December 31 - if the mayor, the administrative director and my employer can extend my contract at the public health center further or it will officially end. At least I can rest after that and find other thing to do for a living.

Alright. Let's talk to the main topic for this Blog. Yesterday, two aircraft were involved in a mid-air collision at Dallas Executive Airport, Texas (United States). The aircraft were a Bell P-63 Kingcobra and the Texas Raiders - a Douglas B-17G-95-DL Flying Fortress. Six lives (the P-63 pilot and the five crewmen of the B-17) were lost in the collision during the Commemorative Air Force airshow. First of all, my heart goes with the families of those airmen on those two aircraft.

In tribute for the Texas Raiders, I'll be sharing some renders of the B-17G Flying Fortress in the bomber's original colors. At the moment I don't have the P-63 Kingcobra to receive the same tribute. In the future, when I make its replica, I'll make in the original colors from that aircraft.

I know there are some things in my replica that are different from the original Texas Raiders. Like for example: the rudder has a red layer on its middle section. I can only work by UV Mapping and texturing with Blender painting tools. The Bomb Group markings belonged to the 385th Bomber Group instead of the 381st Bomber Group. At the time I had the 385th Bomber Group decal only, but I plan to change that in the future. The wings requires a considerable rework, same thing to the top and ball turret. Also, the Texas Raiders remarkable decals (of a Texan lady sitting in a bomb, carrying the Texas flag and a revolver) and serial numbers are missing.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. I plan to bring more images of the B-17G Flying Fortress in Texas Raiders colors or from any other known B-17 of the G model. See you next time.

Note: Don't you dare to download these images and re-share it without my permission. If you do, please, leave the original author name.
