New Updates for: Ju 87 Stuka - August 13, 2021

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog. We are now on August 7th - past the half of 2021; hoping for the things to get better as the World continues in this fight for survival and to develop a (possible) cure for the COVID-19 pandemic.

For this month, my university semester has started - in which my attention will have to be re-directed to the new tasks, in addition to my service at the public health center. And to complement it, Warframe introduced the new Nightwave chapter - which will shorten my time with Blender projects again. (sigh) Let's not go into that detail.

For this Blog, I'm going to show you the new adjustments of the German Junkers 87 Stuka. Let me show you what I did so far.

It's looking good. Don't you agree?

I made new more pieces for the dive break flaps like its links to the wings; a seat for the gunner along an MG15 ammo drum cache and the instrument panel for the pilot. The siren blades received a rework according to some photos and 3D works from other artists - in case to have some idea. But hey, the Stuka is looking good. :)

And now let's go for more renders.

In these renders, I started texturing the fuselage. The idea is to avoid using too much different materials into one model. However, some things will keep the respective material - like the metal surface materials for the engine outlets, the plates inside the nose and canopy framing.

I selected the color package based in the aircraft that flew for the StG (Sturzkampfgeschwader) 2 and StG 77 during the Balkans incursion in April 1941 to the Battle of Britain: A soft shade for the Hellgrün (Light Green) / Hellgrau (Light Gray) and a Dunkelgrün (Dark Green) for the upper scetion of the fuselage and elevator, the Hellblau (Light Blue) for the underside of the fuselage and elevator and the Gelb (Yellow) for the rudder and the nose. The Schwarz (Black) is used in the propeller spinner - despite some models had the spinner painted in yellow, red or white with a black / yellow stripe. In order to make the texture according to the original plane, I applied the Mirror modifier to the wings and fuselage before painting. I used the painting tools from Blender instead of using Gimp 2 and paint the lines and faces from the exported UV. It will make it easier. However, there will be some parts from the fuselage the painting will be looking weird due to the UV Mapping.

Aside from the texture, I made the bomb sight under the pilot panel. That component is the main component for the pilot to target enemy battalions / platoons / structures. It was a little painful to remove some pieces from the fuselage and wings mesh to fit the sights.

And now, more renders of the Ju 87 Stuka. This one will show you the painted wings.

Same thing I did for the fuselage, the wings and fixed carriage received a new texture based in the Stuka's painting in 1941. I selected a soft shade for the Hellgrün (Light Green) / Hellgrau (Light Gray) and a Dunkelgrün (Dark Green) for the upper scetion of the wings, the Hellblau (Light Blue) for the underside of the wings and the Gelb (Yellow) for the underside of the tips. Technically the Stuka is ready with this lovely texture. The only thing is left is the StG decals, the other bombs (four 50 kg / 110 lb bombs under its wings) and rigging the plane.

Speaking of which, let me show you my favorite part: the 'Just for Fun' season.

Amazing. The Stuka is flying with its squadron for another dive bombing run. Armed with its 550 lb (250 kg) bomb beneath its fuselage and its Jericho Trumpets to ring the sound of terror and death.

Here comes the Stuka in a dive.

Too bad I didn't included a brigade of enemy tanks or vehicles for the last render. But hey, it's for demonstration and fun.

And for fun: Achtung! Stuka! (then the bomb is about to be sent as the sirens start to sing.)

And the payload is sent. Who knows I plan to make an animation of the Stuka diving towards its target and sing its dreadful sirens? That would be awesome.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you enjoy this Blog. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
