New updates for: M36 Jackson, Ki-27 and F6F Hellcat - February 15, 2025

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog here to start 2025.

I know. New year, new big surprises, new big changes and new updates related to my 3D projects.

Now that I'm working on the new role as health community agent, my colleagues and I are visiting the families as part of our job to improve the health quality in our community and town. Things are looking good and we're enjoying in our new role.

And, again, new Nightwave chapter has arrived. (NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!) I guess it never ends. (sigh)

Let's go for what it's important than Warframe. For this Blog, I'm going to share you the images of the M36 Jackson, Nakajima Ki-27 Nate and F6F-5 Hellcat.

M36 'Jackson' Tank Destroyer:

The M36 received some adjustments surrounding the chassis, the gun mantlet, the forward piece of the plate to cover the tracks and the turret - with the latter one being remade after several attempts of unifying the back storage with the main piece.

I added some 'hacks' for the fuel gallons, spare tracks and other accessories like bags and wooden logs for extra protection. At least it's doing good.

The next renders are the comparison of the old model with the new model for the turret.

Interesting, huh? At least I didn't had to use the Boolean to cut a big hole on the turret and attach the rear section and merge it. But it was a little tricky to do. I added more details on the turret, like the rings and the emplacement for the M2 Browning MG.

Next thing to do is adjusting the lights and adding the pins for the hatches on the chassis. The M2 Browning MG will added once I conclude it for American vehicles and tanks, same goes for the MG34 and MG42 for German Panzer and vehicles and the DShK for Soviet tanks (mainly the IS-2) and vehicles.

Nakajima Ki-27 'Nate':

The Ki-27 received new components after my last Blog. The new addition are the 'tubes' on the right flap, the engine exhaustion outlets and the cockpit components like the seat, the dashboard and the stick.

Another minor change was the engine cowling being painted in red. The idea was to inspired in the Lavochkin La-5FN and La-7, although some Ki-27 had different painting patterns for every Sentai. Some would have the fixed undercarriage painted in red. I may plan to paint it in these colors. Also, I plan to make the textures for the aircraft that served in the Royal Thai Air Force.

Since it is rigged and having fixed undercarriage, I removed the bones for the landing gear and the landing / lift off animations, leaving only the bones for the main wheels.

Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat:

The F6F received some updates on its fuselage, wings and landing gear. Like for example: I made some 'holes' for the engine exhaustion outlets, adding later the cockpit components (seat, dashboard and stick), the HVAR (High-Velocity Aircraft Rockets) and its hacks, the flaps from extracted pieces from the wings and the fairing for the tail carriage.

After that, I appended the Armature from the P-40 Warhawk since it has the same landing gear design - which will speed up the development of this naval aircraft. Some adjustments were made in order to fit in the F6F Hellcat. I struggled to make landing gear fairings to follow the main components while animating it and cutting a piece from the wings in order to animate it folding up and down.

The following renders will show you the Hellcat with its wings folded.

Very cool, right? It presented me some challenges in order to rotate the wing tips in carrier-base mode. Unlike the F4U Corsair and the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, the F6F Hellcat was a bit difficult to make its wings. The results are satisfactory.

After rigging the Hellcat, the next thing to do is texturing it. I plan to paint the iconic cat's mouth painting. And yeah, I heard the story of the VF-27 and the sad fate for that cat's mouth painting. I may paint other nose art for my WW2 aircraft. Probably I plan to include pin-ups.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
