New Updates for: Macchi C.202 Folgore - June 11, 2021

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog during this quarantine phase while the World makes their best to find a (possible) cure for the COVID-19 pandemic. And since this year is starting to unfold for us, nothing like a good Blog to entertain you.

For this Blog, I'm going to show you the new adjustments of the Macchi C.202 Folgore. Now that I'm working at the health center from where I live, my time to work on my Blender projects is reduced to my short intervals after my studies during breaks of my shift, having extra time on holidays and weekends.

Still, let me show you what I did so far.

I included a Pitot tube, the cockpit front glass and framing, the 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT MGs on the plane's nose and aerial attachments on the Macchi C.202 Folgore. So far it's looking good.

And now, the next renders of the Italian air fighter will show you the C.202 with the Regia Aeronautica roundels and decals.

Reminder: No political comments related to the roundels. I had my doubts about including a non-censored version of the Italian roundels on the plane - especially when it comes to the Fasces (one of the few symbols that, despite associated to the Italian Fascist Regime after its creation and the end of WW2, it didn't faced a similar process of 'not-being used in nowadays' like the German swastikas). This is for artistic recreation.

Amazing. Based on the original pictures and photos, the Macchi C.202 is looking good with the original roundels from the Regia Aeronautica. Yet, what would make it looking great is the iconic camouflage painting on the main structure and the emblem for the respective Stormo (Flight groups from the Italian Air Force - both the old Royal Air Force and the modern Air Force). They have interesting icons like the horse for the 4th and 9th Stormo, the four cats for the 3rd Stormo, the archer of the 1st Stormo, the Red Devil for the 6th Stormo, the three green mice for the 12nd Stormo, the cat with the three green mice of the 51st Stormo and the Red Stars smoking scarecrow for the 22nd Gruppo (group - a subgroup of air fighter that is incorporated to a Stormo) - aka Lo spauracchio (scarecrow in Italian). And maybe, I'll include the original decal I made for the Italian planes like the Folgore, the Macchi C.205 Veltro the Fiat G.55 Centauro - Il Cavaliere Blu (the Blue Knight in Italian). The idea for the Blue Knight is for an original character inspired in some WW2 movies like Red Tails. Well, for this one it will focus on an Italian pilot that flew some incursions to defend Italy from British and American forces after the end of the Second Battle of El Alamein and the Siege of Malta and Sicily.

And to conclude this Blog, I'll present you the recent renders of the Macchi C.202 Folgore.

I started the landing gears for the Italian air fighter. However, the blueprint I selected from the Wikipedia only showed the plane in flight-mode - with the landing gears retracted. But that won't difficult me to make it since I know its setting is based on the Focke-Wulf FW 190, P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Hawker Hurricane, Hawker Typhoon and Tempest, Mitsubishi A6M, Yakovlev planes model 1, 3, 7 and 9 and other planes - where the wheels are aligned to the center of the plane instead of aligned to the wing center when retracted like from the Spitfire and Bf 109.

Also, I made some holes on the wings for the 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT MGs. At first I tried to make it but it didn't looked cool. I would go for decals or like the tapes used on the Spitfire and Hurricane, but I decided to go for the previous idea. The propeller are now using a new texture with the Breda logo instead of the Curtiss-Electric logo used in the P-40 and the P-38.

The next components are the landing gear, the ailerons, flaps, external components on the C.202 and cockpit internal components like the instrument panel and the reflector sights. Then I'll paint it with Blender painting tools and rigging it.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you enjoy this Blog. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
