Back to Work, P-40N, Kübelwagen, Jean and Miria - April 10, 2021

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog during this quarantine phase while the World makes their best to find a (possible) cure for the COVID-19 pandemic.

First of all, I would like to inform you that I returned to work at the public health center in the city where I live. Yup, I'm back on duty after a long time of waiting. In case you follow me on DeviantArt, you are aware the reason for my return. In case not, I'll leave the link to my recent journal there.

Job and Lowering my personal works... again (Upd):

I still can't believe it because they gave me a very tight working schedule even if it is to cover the absence of others at lunch, like - working at 05:00 to 07:00, then at 11:00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 21:00? It's a pretty tiresome trip. Fortunately I have the weekends and holidays to rest, study and working in my projects. However, I have a narrow time to study during the days of the week before going back to work.

And since this year is starting to unfold for us, nothing like a good Blog to entertain you.

For this Blog, I'm going to show you the new adjustments of the P-40N Warhawk.

Looking good. Don't you agree?

I made the canopy, the antennas, the Browning MGs on the wings, landing gears, engine exhaustion outlets and propeller blades - though this one has been appended from my previous plane projects like the Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, P-38 Lightning and B-17 Flying Fortress.

The next components are the framings for the landing gear, the aerial attachments, the steel targeting sight (some, if not all models, has a metal targeting sight along the reflective sight), the decals from the American Air Force / RAF / Brazilian Air Force (including the shark mouth), a proper texture and rigging it.

Before I conclude this Blog, I got more images to show you. I started a new project on Blender - this one related to ground vehicles. Precisely WW2 themed vehicles. For the new project, I chose the German Volkswagen Kübelwagen.

The Kübelwagen is a military adaptation from the Volkswagen Käfer (Beetle in German) after its success in Germany before the invasion of Poland that started World War 2. Ferdinand Porsche - who designed the Volkswagen car for the German people during the initial days of the Nazi regime, made adaptations to the model in order to achieve the specifications from the high ranking military officers. In 1939 the Kübelwagen was born under designation Volkswagen Typ 82. Different from many other vehicles built prior and during WW2, the Kübelwagen was not a 4 x 4-wheel drive vehicle nor faster than the American Jeep Willys, but it proved to be superior in maneuvering over rough terrain. It also has an air-cooled engine instead of a water-cooled engine, in which one bullet hole is enough to stop a vehicle and under highly tolerant of hot or cold climates, the Kübelwagen proved to be an incredible machine to withstand these climatic conditions. After the war, a considerable number of German Kübelwagen survived in Germany and other countries (exported by the Allied nations for study and museum), and some can even be found under good conditions and working.

Curious fact: There are few Brazilian engineers who built the exact replicas with the Beetle framing and engine. Also, I really wanted to have my own Kübelwagen made from a Beetle.

Well, enough of that. Let me show you the first renders of the German Kübelwagen.

Beautiful. Isn't it?

Unlike most of my previous projects, I used Bevel along the Subdivision Surface. With Bevel modifier I don't have to create a bunch of unnecessary subdivisions in the main mesh.

The wheels counted with two Mirror modifier: One for mirroring one side of it and the other for mirroring the object with the main chassis as the central point. For rigging procedures, I must apply the two modifiers, otherwise that piece will diverge from the original mesh of that component.

Since the Kübelwagen is the militarized version of the VW Beetle, I duplicated the wheel to be the reserve for towing.

For the next components, I'll make the seats, the steering wheel, the panel, the doors, the engine exhaustion outlet, the hood and the emplaced MG34 or MG42. I need to find for more images from the bottom section of the Kübelwagen or pick-up some videos of plastic modelism to have some idea in how to make it.

And now, two more projects I was working for a while. These one are current existing. I decided to revisit the Claymore characters with Blender 2.8. The characters of choice to be revisited were: Jean and Miria.

Number 9 Drill Sword Jean:

Nice nice. What changed from the last time I worked on Jean was the hairstyle. Unlike the previous model made in Blender 2.8, the new one was made in Blender 2.90.1.
Jean Hairstyle made in Blender 2.8. That was prior to the time my brother updated Blender to 2.82 version.

Jean Hairstyle made in Blender 2.90.1 - appended to the project loaded with Blender 2.8.

The armor pieces originally are from Irene's project - saved as Hairstyle Project in order to append the hairstyles for Flora, Clare, Miria, Jean, Cynthia, Anne, Galatea and the others. To make the armor pieces for the others will take a while now that I'm working at the health center and studying, leaving me only the weekends and holidays to work on them.

Number 6 Phantom Miria:

Miria has been the sixth character to receive a hairstyle made in Blender 2.90.1, with Flora, Anne, Cynthia, Clare and Jean as the first characters. There's also a different hairstyle I made for Alicia and Beth, but they will receive a proper Save File for another time.

I chose Miria's hairstyle prior the Battle of Pieta where she, Deneve and Helen moved to their own destination and Clare proceed with Raki to their destiny after burying Jean and the warrior seeing Teresa's spirit. After creating the Seven Ghosts, Miria's style is a short hair with a ponytail. Probably I'll make it as well.

She's looking good with her own Spaulders. Just the buckles, faulds, vambraces, chausses and sabbatons are from Irene's armor set. I'll make some adjustments on the front and back side of her hair.

Probably after Miria the next character to receive a new hairstyle is Rafaela, then I'll start Helen and Deneve after the former Number 2 from Luciela's time and former Number 5 from Clare's time.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you enjoy this Blog. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
