A new job and university for next week, a break with Blender and stuff, updates of my projects - August 7, 2020

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog. We are now on August 1st - past the half of 2020; hoping for the things to get better as the World continues in this fight for survival and to develop a (possible) cure for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next week, I will be going to a new university. Although we are still in quarantine, there will be recorded classes in which I can watch them at any time on the university's online portal.

In addition, I received word that I was called to work at the health post as an attendant - but for a temporary period. Three months unless the other candidates move on from the role, allowing me to occupy the fixed position. The reason for this is the municipal election where two of the workers will run for a seat in the council. Despite that, it is a good thing after I performed the civil service exam in 2019. A job after everything I could achieve. I'll start my job at August 10 and my turn will be around days marked as paired (2, 4, 6, 10, 16 and so go on) and weekends, the remaining days will be reserved for studies.

Sadly, I'll take a break with almost everything from my personal hobby. My Blender projects, artworks, fanfics, original stories, games and videos. It is a thing I knew it will come once I start working on something really big. Still, I can make a list of computer components to improve the computers we have, buy a new computer for Blender and games, a new cell phone and pay the bills.

For this Blog, I'll be talking the new changes on my previous projects, starting with B-17 Flying Fortress.

I made new windows for the main fuselage for the nose gunner and bombardier. I used the knife tool to cut the spaces for the windows and duplicate a small mesh for the glass surface. It was a pain when it comes of creating more subdivisions and crease the edges to smooth that area - pretty noticeable when you look at them. It made me to think on retopology of that section, but I'm not sure how I'm going to do that now that my time to spare will be directed to my new job and university.

Weirdly enough, the G version for the B-17 runs away of symmetry compared to the F and D versions of the American heavy bomber.

Also, I changed the Gloss Node and Mix Shader to make a metallic aspect for the aircraft. I did it as part of an idea to make the P-51 Mustang more metallic and reflect the image on its shiny silver structure.

Speaking on the Mustang, here are the new renders of that majestic aircraft:

The Mustang received three new shell outlets under its wings. Aside from that, I applied the Mirror modifier of the main fuselage, allowing me to complete the black-yellow chess on its nose. I kept the original model for that component in case I plan to reuse for future projects.

Now the Supermarine Spitfire - both Mk IX and Mk I:

Just as I did on the Mustang P-51, I applied the Mirror to the Spitfire's fuselage, wings, elevator, rudder and ailerons. Unlike the American fighter, I changed the textures to the other side of these components with a different material. I know some parts are not looking nice from one side to connect with the other one for both versions of the Spitfire. Textures made on Gimp 2 always have its pros and cons - which I have to adopt the Blender painting tools in order to lay low with Gimp 2 and SAI for that purpose.

Similar to the Mustang, the Spitfire received its shell outlets.

To conclude this Blog, I'm going to show you the Panzer I. I resumed it recently.

I made some changes on its after section, the tracks received a mud stained texture, adjusted the antenna, a new hornet and suspension links on its tracks. So far it's looking good.

And for fun, my mini section of renders with the Panzer I and German soldiers.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you enjoy this Blog. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
