Vacation from job, concluding the Albatros D.II and D.III and changes to my X profile - October 13, 2025
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog in 2025. We are now on October 13 - past the half of 2025.
The year is going by fast. I'm now on vacation from job, with return to work scheduled on November 5th. At least it's good to have a month to rest after several days of work. I'll finally be able to get back to my other projects during these days when I'm off. Yet, there are some things at the public health center that I'm required to attend, even during my vacation.
Before I'm going to start this Blog, I'm going to give a brief note. I decided to mark my X (formerly Twitter) profile as limited to only my followers, with most of my Tweets there as protected. Some people there decided to do that while retained as free to visualize or to follow that account. However, since a majority of accounts there are bots or fake due to the absence of info or having links to OF (OnlyFans) or any doubtful websites, is a reason to stay cautious nowadays, not to mention some people stating accounts getting lost - invaded by hackers, for which they created a backup for sharing their works and news.
I wouldn't mind doing that since I used that profile to share my gaming content from TonyTorius (my first YouTube channel - dedicated to games), my drawings, 3D works and my literary works from Blogspot. As for free to visualize, I'll leave the links to other places outside X.
Alright, let's get down to business. I'm going to share you the recent images of the Albatros D.II and D.III. I finally concluded these two German biplanes from World War I these days and they're now available at Sketchfab and ArtStation.
Albatros D.II:
The Albatros D.II received the first texture for the fuselage and rudder. For the wooden material, I decided to make a change. Instead of linking the UV option from Texture Coordinate Node linked to Vector from the Mapping Node, I linked by the Object from the Texture Coordinate. Although it changed the details in the wood material, it fixed the issue of two segments from the UV Mapping not connecting properly due to the seam.
Another thing I added is the German roundels on the rudder and fuselage; the metal sheets on the engine cowling, the external fuel tank, more pipes attached to the Mercedes D.III engine and a round windshield. So far, so good.
Alright. The wooden texture received more details from the Bump and Weathering textures. I added a darker effect on the wood texture - to give an impression of hard wood treatment or varnished wood. Also, I added some white canvas for the roundels, the lines for the radiators, bolts and fabric projections on the wings and flight control surfaces.
The wings also received a nice texture. I decided to paint it brown while the beige will be used for the Ottoman Albatros D.II.
Speaking of which, I'll show you the biplane in Ottoman colors.
Both textures are looking great for the D.II biplane. I personally found this plane a bit tricky to make, but I enjoyed it. The Albatros D.II is rigged and is ready to fly.

Albatros D.III:
After concluding the D.II, I saved the D.III in a separate project file in order to leave the necessary parts for the respective model. For example: the external fuel tank and Windhoff "ear" radiators had to be removed in this model. The textures were retained - copied from the D.II files to a new one, with the slightest changes for the D.III.
Another thing I added to the D.III is the radiator on top of the upper wing and a modification for the V-like wing struts and strings. The development took a slow pace due to the development of the D.II. The idea is to make the most of most components and textures without doing all of it from scratch.
Amazing, huh? I made a nice texture for the wings while retaining the majority of the texture from the fuselage. In addition to these, I added more pipes stretching from the radiator to the Mercedes engine; and moved the upper wings a little bit higher.
The German sesquiplane is looking good, but I think I add another color to give a nice contrast. And as usual, a bright red color.
Initially I had plans of making Ernst Udet's Albatros D.III, but I decided to paint it red for Manfred's biplane. Don't worry. I'll make the textures for Udet's plane, same goes for Werner Voss, Lothar von Richthofen, Kurt Wolff and other German pilots. And of course, the Austrian, the Hungarian and the Ottoman models for this warbird. I'll also include the OAW and Oeffag variants in the future.

After the Albatros D.II and Albatros D.III, the upcoming WWI planes, the ones in mind are:
* Albatros D.V;
* Nieuport 28 and 17;
* Fokker E.III and D.VII;
* Gotha G.V; and
* Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI.
For the time being, I'll focus on my WW2 planes, tanks, vehicles and firearms.
Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
