Updating the computer, changes and new updates for: Meteor - October 28, 2025

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog in 2025. We are now on October 28 - past the half of 2025.

The year is going by fast. I'm now on vacation from job, with return to work scheduled on November 5th. At least it's good to have a month to rest after several days of work. I'll finally be able to get back to my other projects during these days when I'm off. Yet, there are some things at the public health center that I'm required to attend, even during my vacation.

Before I'm going to start this Blog, I'm going to give a brief note. I've been absent for the past few days due to the arrival of new components to install in the computers that my brother and I use. As you know, Microsoft announced the end of support for Windows 10 - offering the next OS (operating system): the Windows 11. However, most people didn't enjoyed the news surrounding it due to several reasons, like relying on a Microsoft account to log in to the computer (similar to what they did for Windows 8), the addition of the Copilot (the main AI assistant) as a component - but some people stated it could lead to privacy concerns and the lack of proper accuracy when doing research, compatibility issues and strict hardware requirements - where old PCs would struggle in to update to the newest OS.

Because of this, most people sought to install open code OS like Linux. My brother and I installed the Fedora 42. We tried installing Ubuntu or Linux Mint - both didn't make it, resorting on the Fedora. The downside is that you need to install most of packages manually by code. Most games are working, with some requiring extra softwares to run it (like Wine, Proton and Lutris). However, I'm still using Windows 10 whatever I can, because the Fedora didn't find the 1TB HDD and not all softwares I'm using are available or found to install. Including Blender 2.8 and 2.93.

Alright, let's get down to business. I'm going to share you the recent images of the Gloster Meteor F.4.

I made some changes on the wings for the Meteor F.4 variant. While I was working on the fairings and the space for the undercarriage, I decided to remake the main component and the ailerons. The navigation lights were made from an extracted piece from the tips. The results were promising.

Let me show you a comparison between the old and the new model. I disabled the decals for this comparison.

Looks good. Although I rendered the navigation lights with the old version of the wings, the newer wings is presenting a refined line and chords comparing it to the old one. I tried to reduce the number of vertices, even though the new model has more vertices than the old model.

I may rework the wings for the Mk III variant after concluding its UV Mapping and texture.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
