Concluding the J2M3 Raiden, plans to resume my studies for another civil service exam and spam bots on Sketchfab - May 11, 2026
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog in 2026.
I know. I've been absent without writing anything new here. As most of you are aware, Julie (our family's dog) passed away on February 18. And, during those days I fell into depression. Some things related to my personal life haven't been going well and sometimes it has affected my work a little - making me think about finding something else to do in life and giving up my current position.
But now I'm doing alright. Probably in this week I'll resume my studies for upcoming civil service exams. There are some that are promising in case I plan to move on for another job - even if I'm going to gain more or less from what I'm used to.
I may resume to send my professional resume for any job applications in case the public notice of competition take time to be released.
Enough of that. Let's talk about I'm going to share you the images of the Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden. I concluded the Japanese aircraft from World War 2 recently and it's available at ArtStation and Sketchfab.
Speaking on Sketchfab, after uploading the model of the J2M3 to my gallery, I received a comment from the Support Team, saying that my account has been restricted and I needed to click on a link to where I should be directed to someone from the Support. However, my brother and I looked at the comment, the username from the account, then we looked its date of creation that it barely started recently.
It was a bot sending comments with links that ask you any information from your credit card. In response we reported the comment and user to the Epic Game moderators.
After that, I uploaded a new 3D model to the Sketchfab. And, guess what. Another comment from another spam bot. So, I had to report it and the new bot account, again. (sigh)
Although there are tons of these spam bots in the website, the only response that I found is to disable the comment section to every model I uploaded. I know most people wouldn't like it, but it's the only way I found to prevent any comment of this nature. I don't know if the moderators will take this matter into consideration, like something similar to the X moderation team that started cleaning the website from bots. Only time will tell.
Now, let me show you the renders of the J2M3 Raiden.
After rigging the aircraft, the J2M3 received a nice texture on its fuselage. I started the UV Mapping of this component along the Kasei engine, propeller spinner, rudder and elevator. Then I added the engine exhaustion gases marking on the fuselage along the Hinomaru roundels. So far it's looking good.
Then I started working on its wings.
I changed the yellow color that covered the wings leading edge to a golden canary color - based on the Ki-61 Hien and the Ki-43 Hayabusa. The red star from the 20 mm cannon base was a little tricky to make, but it paid off.
Also, I included the gases coming out from the guns muzzle and the shells outlets; as well the Hinomaru roundels on the lower and upper side of the wings.
Alright. The Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden in its complete version. I plan to include the Sentai markings - especially the two lightning bolts on each side of the fuselage.
I added the smoke on the Metal and Specular textures in order to reduce the brightness for the aircraft's metallic surface, which looks good. I had plans to add the wearing marks like I did for my previous works, but I may do that in the future.
Another small change is the Kasei engine - which I divided the object into two separate rows of pistons. Also, the idea is not necessary of making a realistic model for the engine like I did for my B-17 Flying Fortress, otherwise I'd increase the size of the 3D model in memory and storage consumption. The pilot dashboard will receive a nice texture in the future.
The aircraft is rigged and is now available at ArtStation and Sketchfab. Here's the link to its 3D model:
After the J2M3 Raiden, the next WW2 planes I'm going to conclude are:
* Macchi C.202 Folgore;
* Macchi C.205 Veltro;
* Junkers Ju 87 Stuka;
* Junkers Ju 88;
* Heinkel He 111;
* Ilyushin IL-2;
* Gloster Meteor (both the Mk III and F.4);
* Lockheed P-38L-5-LO Lightning;
* Lavochkin La-7;
* Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9;
* Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-3 and T-3;
After that, I may start a new WW2 plane or conclude my other projects.
Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
