Concluding the B-29 / Tu-4, and new updates for: Fokker Dr.I - March 31, 2025

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog here to start 2025.

I know. New year, new big surprises, new big changes and new updates related to my 3D projects.

Now that I'm working on the new role as health community agent, my colleagues and I are visiting the families as part of our job to improve the health quality in our community and town. Things are looking good and we're enjoying in our new role.

And, again, new Nightwave chapter is still on. (NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!) I guess it never ends. (sigh)

Let's go for what it's important than Warframe. For this Blog, I'm going to share you the images of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, the Tupolev Tu-4 and the Fokker Dr.I.

Boeing B-29 Superfortress:

Tupolev Tu-4:

The two heavy bombers received the textures for the Bump and Weathering nodes. Aside from minor differences like roundels and colors, both the Boeing B-29 and the Tupolev Tu-4 are looking great.

I made some minor adjustments on the animation sequences for the landing gear and the size for the wheels after watching the animations on Sketchfab - noticing the minor issues that required corrections. With these in mind, the bombers were re-uploaded to my 3D gallery on Sketchfab.

For the time being, I haven't rendered the images from its interior to show you like I did for the B-17 and the Lancaster. I may do that after this Blog. Also, I plan to save the Tupolev Tu-4 as a separate project file, including its textures. For the moment, I haven't made the textures for the Metal and Specular nodes.

Both planes are available in my Sketchfab, even though I'm still working on the textures. Interesting enough, the B-29 has been the most liked model, with 13 likes - surpassing the Hawker Hurricane (8 likes), the Macchi C.205 Veltro (7 likes), Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4 and the Horten Ho 229 (6 likes). I guess most people are enjoying my content on Sketchfab.

Fokker Dr.I:

The Fokker triplane received a red, white, metallic and brown temporary materials as it looked a bit too white during its development. Since I know this aircraft after the Red Baron, I decided to paint it in the original colors from the famous WWI German ace. I also plan to color it with the colors from Werner Voss' triplane.

Back to the development. The Fokker Dr.I received a new set of wings after a big rework with a new airfoil. The last video I uploaded to my channel shows you its creation and development. Wing tips is usually the troubling part, but it finally paid off. Along the wings, I made the pylons that sustain one wing to another, the rotary engine, the leather coating on the cockpit, the propeller hub and the lifting handles (the ring beneath the fuselage) - this one using Bezier curves).

After these renders, I tried to make the other components like the wooden propeller blades, the MG08, the skids, the ailerons and the links to the wings.

The Fokker Dr.I is looking great in these renders. After the wings, I tried making the ailerons with some lines and vertices. Unlike my previous attempt, this one is showing some results.

Let me show you the wings from the new version with the old version.

New version

Old version

The upper wing in the old model looks more curved and soft compared to the new version. The Subdivision Surface modifier is set to value 1 instead of 2 (the usual that I use for my models). Disregarding the missing tips for the other wings in the old model, the big issue I met while working on the first model for the ailerons was the Edge Loop after selecting an edge that linked to several others. For that I had to remake it - solving this problem in the new model.

More renders to show you.

The propeller blades were made after extruding the faces from the hub - trying to align it with the drawings. I may plan to remake it in the future.

Another change was the lower wing. I removed the middle section since the wings are attached to the fuselage via spacing - sealing the hole from the wings.

After these renders, the next components made are the wires on the wings, the undercarriage, the links to the rudder and elevator; a rework on the rotary engine and a minor adjustment on the fuselage.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
