Claymore - The Warrior Sword
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another blog here.
Like I said in my previous blog (My introductions) I plan to use this Blogger/Blogspot platform to share my work after Google+. In case you don't know, I had a Google+ called Antony 'of the Templars' for sharing my artworks, WIPs, concepts and sketches. As I heard the news of shutting down that platform, I decided to move my work to other platforms. I still have my DeviantArt gallery but I'll limit my WIPs and concepts, leaving me the Blog as my new way of sharing my concepts.
Alright, let's go for the main topic of this blog. What I'm going to show you is my work I did on March 16, 2018. It is the Claymore sword that appears on the manga/anime series called Claymore, written by Norihiro Yagi on May 2001 – December 4, 2014.
For those who don't know, Claymore is a dark-fantasy series that is set on a fictional medieval island where humans are plagued by Yoma, humanoid shape-shifters that feed on humans. In that world, a mysterious group known as The Organization, creates human-Yoma hybrids to kill Yoma for a fee. These female warriors wear armored uniforms. The humans refer to them as "Claymores," alluding to their Claymore swords, or "Silver-eyed Witches," due to their silver eyes.
The beginning of Claymore focus on Clare, the main protagonist of the series that saved Raki from a Yoma that killed his brother and moves around the world while she hunt the Yoma as part of her duty while Raki follows her in order to prep her food and learn a bit the life of a Claymore. The story is divided in arcs, which one of them tells Clare's past and her relation to another warrior called Teresa; the story of her journey with other warriors like Miria, Deneve, Helen, Ophelia, Jean, Galatea, Flora, Undine and others. In case you want to know more about Claymore, I suggest you to read the manga and watch the anime. In any case, I'll leave the link to the Wikipedia.
Resuming to my artworks and concepts, I made the Claymore sword from the series on Blender. My brother helped me while I was making the handle, blade and guard of the sword.
The original model without texture. |
During my time making the sword, I made few adjustments on the blade to reduce the size of the symbol. Each sword has the warrior's symbol, similar for those placed on their dickeys (their clothing piece that covers the neck to the line of the clavicle and middle of sternum) and the handle has a different color to represent the warrior's occupation/role. The blue handle represents the Single-Digit warrior (from the Number 1 to Number 10), red represents the offensive warriors and the green is for the defensive warriors.
The first swords made in this images are (from left-right): Rafaela (Number 5 from Clare time), Priscila (Number 2 from Teresa time), Tony (an exclusive character I made for my fanfiction series written to my DeviantArt gallery), Deneve (Number 15 from Clare time), Clare (Number 47), Teresa (Number 1) and Irene (Number 3 in Teresa time).
Then I made for the other characters from Claymore.
That's it what I can show you. I plan to share more artworks and other things I did in my time. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see it. See you next time.

I really love the claymore sword from swordskingdom.
ReplyDeleteRight. When I started working on Blender, one of the ideas while trying some things was this sword from Claymore - by Norihiro Yagi. I also tried making simple sword but it didn't work as I wanted and a Japanese katana inspired sword that remain still. I counted with the help of my brother to make this sword and texture it.
DeleteI plan to expand subjects beyond Claymore and other manga / anime series and possibly when I can, I plan to make a claymore sword from swordskingdom.
Thanks for dropping by and write me a comment in one of my Blogs. :)
