New updates for: Sopwith Pup and concluding Sopwith Triplane - August 17, 2025

Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog in 2025. We are now on August 17 - past the half of 2025.

The year is going by fast. The following days will be pretty long due to work and vacations are scheduled for October. At least it would be nice to have a month to rest after several days of work. I'll finally be able to get back to my other projects during the holidays.

And, again, new Nightwave chapter is still on, but my brother and I have reached level 30 after several performed challenges. As usual. (: /)

Let's go for what it's important than Warframe. For this Blog, I'm going to share you the recent images of the Sopwith Triplane and Sopwith Pup - two new projects that I started these days. I concluded the Triplane recently, so I'll save it for the last.

Sopwith Pup:

The Sopwith Pup received the cables that links the fuselage to the wings, rudder and elevator - which were common in World War I planes. In addition to these, I added the Pitot tube from the Camel to the Pup and Triplane.

Minor changes included the Vickers MG being resized / adapted to the top cowling.

Another update was the addition of a Lewis Gun MG. Some Sopwith Pups were equipped with Lewis Gun in place of the Vickers MG, mainly for hunting Zeppelin or Air Balloons. Some were mounted with the barrel angled toward the top of the upper wing, while others were mounted above the upper wing, firing forward. The Lewis Gun would also equip the Sopwith 2F.1 Camel.

The following renders will show you the Pup with a Lewis Gun and others with a Vickers MG.

Interesting. Don't you agree?

Although I tried my best to avoid using too much Subdivision Surface modifier, some components may rely on it while others would count with Bevels.

For one thing, the Sopwith Pup looks nice in this stage of development. Probably I plan to add the textures for this British biplane, unless I plan to add more components.

And now, the Sopwith Triplane.

Like the Sopwith Pup, I added the cables to the Triplane's wings, fuselage and tail. Minor changes included the size for the Vickers MG and the texture for the main propeller.

But the latest additions were the support beams from the middle wings attached to the fuselage, the Pitot tube and the wind-driven fuel pump. Some World War I counted with fuel pumps attached to one of the wooden struts - driven by a small propeller.

After these updates, I started the textures for the Triplane.

The Sopwith Triplane received the RFC (Royal Flying Corps) roundels attached to the fuselage, upper wings and lower wings. So far it is looking good. I may include the textures for the Sopwith Triplane that fought for the Belgium, France, Soviet (some British planes sent to the Russian Empire were captured by the Soviets during the Civil War and used against the Tsarist forces) and the Germans (some Triplanes were captured by the Imperial German Army and studied for developing their own triplanes, including the famous Fokker Dr.I).

Minor updates included were the ammo belt for the Vickers MG and the aileron support beams imported from the Camel.

And now, the Triplane in its concluded stage of development.

Alright. I finally concluded the Sopwith Triplane these days. After the Diffuse textures, I added the Bump, Metal and Specular textures. Like I said during the development of the Sopwith Camel, World War I planes are pretty easy to make and they are faster to be made, despite some 'particularities' that would require more time.

The Triplane has been rigged. The Armature was imported from the Camel, with minor adjustments to suit the Triplane - like the middle wing ailerons. I'm not sure I plan to add another Bone for the fuel pump propellers. Probably.

Like I said early, the Sopwith Triplane is now complete and it is available at Sketchfab and ArtStation.

With the Triplane finished as the 4th World War I plane, the next planes to conclude are the SPAD S.VII and the Sopwith Pup.

For the upcoming WWI planes, the ones in mind are:
* Albatros D.III / D.IIIa (including the OAW and Oeffag variants), D.II and D.V;
* Nieuport 17 and 28;
* Fokker E.III and D.VII;
* Gotha G.V; and
* Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI.

Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
