New video and concluding the Fokker Dr.I and Sopwith Camel - May 19, 2025
Hello everyone. It's me Antony, back with another Blog in 2025.
I know. New year, new big surprises, new big changes and new updates related to my 3D projects.
Now that I'm working on the new role as health community agent, my colleagues and I are visiting the families as part of our job to improve the health quality in our community and town. Things are looking good and we're enjoying in our new role.
And, again, new Nightwave chapter is still on - with announcement of its conclusion for the next Nora Mix. As usual. (: /)
Unfortunately the Internet is not doing very well due to the increasing user traffic. Since today is holiday from where I live, to reserve a time to play some video-games or to access Twitter is getting complicated when Internet provider is getting unstable and lots of complains are getting evident. I had to play Girls' Frontline and Azur Lane on my cellphone via mobile network instead of Wi-Fi.
Alright. Enough of that, let's go for what it's important. For this Blog, I'm going to share you the latest videos and images of the Fokker Dr.I and the Sopwith Camel.
This is going to be the last video for the timelapse series. It's available on YouTube.
And now the images:
After the last Blog, I made some adjustments on the rudder and the cables attached to the fuselage. My brother assisted me on reworking the engine cowling. The last textures to add were the Bump, Metal, Specular and Weathering - giving a nice effect on the fabric surface and metallic areas.
The propeller blades will remain that way since my last attempts didn't present me a nice result. Still, it will do.
While I was working on the texture for the Red Baron's triplane, I concluded the texture for Werner Voss' triplane.
Amazing. Both models are looking great in these colors. I plan to make the texture for Lothar von Richthofen's triplane. Lothar is Manfred's younger brother who also fought WW1 as a pilot along his brother and their cousin Wolfram. Unlike Manfred, Lothar survived the conflict but he perished on a plane crash.
Back to the Fokker Dr.I. I can say this plane is looking great and it is finished. Unless I plan to remake the propeller blades and add the writing on the fuselage - which will be for another time, I concluded my first World War 1 plane, despite the Sopwith Camel being the first to be completed before the Fokker Dr.I. I made some minor adjustments on the cables due to some issues after uploading it to Sketchfab. Same thing happened to the Sopwith Camel.
Fokker Dr.I:
Speaking on the British biplane, here are the images of the Sopwith Camel:
Another beautiful WW1 plane. Honestly I think the German Imperial planes are the most beautiful because of their paint job, especially the ones from Jasta 11 aka the Flying Circus. Still, British and French planes also have a nice painting.
The Sopwith Camel looks nice after receiving the Bump and Weathering textures. And also a nice effect for dirt and smoke for the fuselage and the wings. I tried to write "Sopwith" and more information on the tail fin, but it didn't presented me a nice result. I may do that later - same thing for the letters or squadron number.
Similar to the German triplane, I painted a second texture for the British biplane - one wearing the American Air Service roundels.
Despite the majority of planes that integrated the U.S. Army Air Service were of French origin (Spad S.XIII, Nieuport 28 and others), some British aircraft, such as the Camel, were also supplied to the Americans. Every plane has its strengths and weaknesses, including the ones from World War 1. Still, this Sopwith Camel looks great in these colors.
Like the Fokker Dr.I, the Sopwith Camel is now ready for future animations and mini-games. The model has been uploaded to Sketchfab.
Sopwith F.1 Camel:
I have plans of starting a new collection of WW1 planes, but I'll put it on a halt for the time being while I have the other projects to conclude - such as the WW2 planes, tanks, vehicles, firearms and more.
Well, that's it for now my friends. I hope you like this Blog. Let us hope this year bring us new content and something different from the usual. In case I have some spare time to enjoy, I'll be working on other things aside from Blender projects and my personal things. Until the time comes, you will be surprised to see them. See you next time.
